What is a verb? Verbs are words that show action, something done or state of being Verbs Samples of state of being verbs are: John is the tallest student. It was a joke. Verbs are also words like am, is or are. They are referred to as the ?to be? verbs. Verbs we use everyday are: have, had, go, went, gone, make, made, come, came, get, got, say, tell, take, took, taken. Verbs have tenses and it is important to have the verb agree with the subject. Examples are: dance, danced, dancing, cry, cried, crying. Verbs that refer to a state of being are also referred to as linking verbs. Samples of these are: She feels sad. She is the teacher. Candy tastes sweet. |
