| This task will provide your grade 4's with lots of valuable information on composting. Students will read the text and answer the questions without looking back at the passage. This way you will know if they comprehended what they read. Composting helps the earth and makes plants grow better. We take food scraps and leaves and let them breakdown naturally. These ingredients are called organic waste. Mix all these things in a pile in your backyard or in a special bin called a composter. Add some water and turn the waste over occasionally. Micro-organisms like warms start to work their magic in the pile. They breakdown the waste and it becomes crumbly compost. We can use it on our plants and in our gardens.
