Lab for Properties of Liquids For Google Apps | |||||
The purpose of this experiment is to conduct an investigation to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in new substances (MS-PS1-3). Students will need the following: • Various solid objects (such as a metal spoon, plastic toy, rubber ball, wooden block, etc.) • Magnifying glasses • Rulers • Thermometers • Water and a bowl • Paper and pencil for recording observations They need to check out the various solids and describe their properties (e.g. color, shape, texture, size, weight, etc.) • use the magnifying glass to observe any patterns, lines and shapes on the surface • measure the different solids, which ones are easier/harder to measure • take temperatures of the objects, are their differences? • put some of the solids in the bowl of water – how do they interact with one another? What are their findings? |
