To form a plural from these singular words, remember the following: most words that end in a consonant followed by an o, add es. A tomato becomes tomatoes. A potato becomes potatoes. A hero becomes heroes. A tornado becomes tornadoes. A buffalo becomes buffaloes. A echo becomes echoes. A mosquito becomes mosquitoes. A volcano becomes volcanoes. A torpedo becomes torpedoes.
