Persistence Choice Board

How many times do we feel like giving up but then are persistent and follow it through until the end? Use this choice board for your students to reflect and practice being persistent. They can make a poster, set goals or write about someone that has shown persistence. These activities can be done independently and some in a group setting.
Defining Persistence: Write your own definition of persistence. Think of a time when you had to be persistent and describe what you did to keep going.

Persistence in Learning: Write about a subject or skill you find difficult (like math or playing an instrument). Describe how you can practice persistence to improve over time.

Goal Setting: Set a small, achievable goal for yourself this week (like reading for 20 minutes each day or practicing a sport). Write about how you will stay persistent in reaching this goal.

Overcoming Obstacles: Think of a time when you faced a challenge or obstacle. Write about how you overcame it by being persistent and what you learned from the experience.

Famous Failures: Research a famous person who failed many times before succeeding (like Thomas Edison or J.K. Rowling). Write about their persistence and how it helped them achieve their goals.

Persistence Role Models: Identify someone in your life who shows persistence, like a parent, teacher, or friend. Write about what they do that demonstrates persistence and how it inspires you.

Persistent Practice: Choose a skill or hobby (like drawing, playing a sport, or writing) that you want to improve. Write a plan for how you will practice persistently, even when it’s hard.

Encouraging Others: Write a letter to a classmate who is struggling with something. Encourage them to be persistent and offer ideas on how to keep going.

Growth Mindset Statements: Write down three statements that encourage a growth mindset (like “I can get better with practice” or “Mistakes help me learn”). Reflect on how these statements can help you stay persistent.

Persistence in Teamwork: Think about a time when your team was losing or facing difficulties. Write about how you and your teammates showed persistence and what the outcome was.

Reflecting on Persistence: Write about a time when you wanted to give up but chose to keep going instead. Reflect on how being persistent helped you achieve something important.

Creating a Persistence Poster: Design a poster with quotes, drawings, or words that remind you to be persistent. Display it where you can see it every day.

Persistence in Problem-Solving: Think of a problem you need to solve (like a tricky math question or a puzzle). Write about the steps you will take to keep trying until you find a solution.

Revising with Persistence: Write about a time when you had to revise or redo an assignment. Reflect on how being persistent helped you improve your work.

Daily Persistence Tracker: Create a chart to track your persistence each day for a week. Include things like “I tried again when I made a mistake” or “I asked for help when I needed it.” Reflect on your progress at the end of the week.

Supporting a Friend: Write about how you can help a friend who is struggling to be persistent. Think of ways to encourage them and offer support when they feel like giving up.
