| Magnets attract when a north pole is introduced to a south pole. North to north will repel and so will south to south. This lab asks your kids to discover what things are attracted to a magnet. Gather things like magnets and various things like screws, tacks, staples, foil, steel wool, toothpicks etc. Predict which ones are attracted and why. Slowly bring the magnet toward each of the objects to determine if there is an attraction or a magnetic pull. Put the items on one side if they cling to the magnet and put the other items on the other side if they do not cling to the magnet. Report your findings. |
