If you had to move to a different habitat, which one would you choose and why? Answers will vary...
Name a threat to the ocean habitat that harms animals of the ocean? Why is it harmful? Pollution, over fishing...
How many ways can you list that the sun (non living) helps living things grow and live? Answers will vary, grow crops, warmth, day and night ….)
How do animals help plants? Bees and birds help with pollination, spreading of seeds for plants to survive.
Some animals are herbivores (eat plants), some are (carnivores) eat animals and some are omnivores (eat both). List as many of each as you can.
Grasshoppers eat grass and some birds eat grasshoppers, this is called a food chain. Can you name other food chains?
Which animals live in your habitat? What living and non living needs do they have? Answers will vary.
Design a habitat poster, explain how the non living (plant/soil/water/sun) are used by the plants and animals.
What do you think would happen if whales were brought to ponds, lakes or rivers to live? (Not big enough, the animals in the pond/lake/rivers wouldn’t survive as they would become food for the whales, eventually the whales would die too) Answers will vary but this helps students understand the unique interactions of every habitat.
Why do you think so many plants and animals are becoming instinct? (pollution, building, fires, over crowding…)
