What happens before the inappropriate behavior?
Was the behavior out of the blue?
Were there any warning signs?
What students were around when it happened?
What could the child have done instead of this inappropriate behavior?
Does the child know what could be done instead? How do you know?
Did the student use the behavior to escape something? to get something? How do you know?
Not understanding the point of view or perspective of another?
Not handing a transition well? (change is difficult for many
individuals and unexpected changes can lead to inappropriate behaviors)
Having a low self esteem? depression? unknown event? anxiety?
Having a weak attention span?
Has processing difficulties?
Has difficulty with organization skills?
