Student Assessment/Rubric For Google Apps

Use this rubric and student assessment as your students complete these paired reading exercises. They are an easy way to evaluate your students and you just check or light the appropriate box.

Text Comprehension
Demonstrates understanding of both the fiction and nonfiction passages (main
idea, key details, and sequence of events).
Look for accuracy and clarity in responses.
Compare and Contrast
Identifies at least one clear similarity and one difference between the two texts
(topics, themes, text structure, or point of view).
Uses specific examples when possible.
Use of Text Evidence
Supports answers with relevant details or direct evidence from both texts.
Quotes or paraphrases appropriately for grade level.
Vocabulary Understanding
Accurately explains or uses vocabulary from the passages, especially words in
context or subject-specific terms.
Written Response Quality
Answers are clearly written in complete sentences with logical organization.
Includes correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling for grade level.
Engagement with Content
Shows effort, focus, and thoughtful engagement with the topic or theme (e.g.,
when giving opinions, making connections, or drawing conclusions).
Question Completion
Completes all assigned comprehension and analysis questions thoroughly.
