| These are two poems about the axolotl that is pink or black, and has feathery gills upon its back. It swims with grace, but here’s the twist— It keeps its youth; it won’t desist. These paired poems will tweak your 5th graders interest because it is such a unique animal with amazing traits. Have them read both poems. Can they distinguish which is fiction and non fiction?
